Clash of Clans Portal Panic: Dates, Rewards & Portal Pendant Guide

Clash of Clans’ Portal Panic event went live on October 8, 2026, and it’s running through October 25. Supercell packaged it as a “medal event” layered on top of the ongoing Cosmic Curse season, and it comes with a new Minion Prince equipment that’s honestly one of the more interesting hero items they’ve added this year. Here’s what’s actually in the update and whether it’s worth your attack time.

What happened in Clash of Clans’ Portal Panic update

Supercell confirmed the event in two blog posts, one teasing it on October 1 and the full rundown on October 8 when it actually started. Portal Panic runs from October 8 at 08:00 UTC to October 25 at 08:00 UTC, with a two-day grace period after that (until October 27 at 08:00 UTC) to spend whatever currency you’ve got left before the Trader shop closes.

The event is open to Town Hall 6 and up, though the headline reward — the Portal Pendant equipment for the Minion Prince — needs Town Hall 9 to actually use.

The mechanic is the usual Clash event loop with a new coat of paint. You fight regular battles, ranked battles, or revenge attacks to collect Sour Elixir, which you pour into a new Event Building called the Sour Elixir Fountain. That building fills up an Event Track, and the Track hands out Rift Medals you then spend in the Trader Shop. Supercell says the Sour Elixir payout per battle actually increases as the event goes on, so it’s a little more forgiving for players who start late.

    The Portal Pendant, explained

The Portal Pendant is new Epic Equipment for the Minion Prince, and it’s built around keeping him (and whoever’s near him) alive longer. When it activates, it opens a portal that pulls friendly troops and heroes inside its radius back into your army bar so you can redeploy them. Troops that come back through the portal land partially healed with a temporary speed boost, and the Minion Prince himself gets fully healed every time it triggers.

There’s also a built-in safety net: if the Minion Prince is about to take a hit that would kill him, the portal fires automatically and saves him. Upgrading the equipment increases the radius, how many units it can recall at once, the healing, and how long the speed boost lasts. The one thing it won’t pull through is Siege Machines, so don’t plan your attack around rescuing a Battle Blimp with it.

From October 20 at 08:00 UTC to the end of the event on October 25, Supercell is running a boost that temporarily sets the Portal Pendant to max level for everyone, which is a decent window to test it out even if you haven’t upgraded it yet.

New temporary troops and the Clash-O-Ween lineup

Alongside the Pendant, the event track unlocks a rotating cast of Halloween-flavored temporary troops. The new one this year is the Totem Thrower, a ranged unit that hits ground targets from six tiles out. Every fourth attack (starting with its first), it throws a cursed totem that stuns nearby defenses and drops a stationary Tiny Totem that soaks up damage until it breaks.

It’s joined by returning Clash-O-Ween troops: Lavaloon (an air unit that goes after Air Defenses and spawns Lavaloon Pups), Witch Golem (ground-targeting, spawns Skeletons, splits into Big Boys on death), Royal Ghost (low HP but untargetable for 12 seconds after it drops, ignores walls), and the explosive, high-HP Giant Skeleton.

The Trader Shop itself stocks more than just the Pendant — you’ll also find Epic Equipment options for the Barbarian King, Archer Queen, Grand Warden, and Royal Champion, plus magic items, potions, ore, and bulk resources, all priced in Rift Medals.

    Why it matters

Clash of Clans has leaned hard into these medal-track events over the past year or two, and Portal Panic is a solid example of why they work: it gives you a free-to-play path to a genuinely useful piece of equipment without forcing an event pass purchase. The Minion Prince hasn’t always been the most popular hero to invest in, and a recall-and-heal tool like this gives attackers a real reason to build him up, especially in Clan War Leagues where keeping your hero alive through a push matters more than raw damage.

I’d treat this one as a priority event rather than a skippable one if you’ve got a Town Hall 9+ base sitting around — equipment this flexible doesn’t come along in every event.

    What’s next

The event closes October 25 at 08:00 UTC, with the Trader shop staying open two extra days for spending Rift Medals before it locks on October 27. The Cosmic Curse season itself continues through the rest of October alongside other seasonal content, so expect more event layers before Supercell moves to its next monthly theme.

    FAQ

When does Clash of Clans Portal Panic end?
October 25, 2026 at 08:00 UTC. The Trader shop stays open until October 27 at 08:00 UTC so you can spend leftover Rift Medals.

Do I need to buy the event pass to get the Portal Pendant?
No. The Portal Pendant and the Totem Thrower troop are both available through free progress on the Event Track. The paid pass just adds extra Sour Medals and speeds up progress.

What Town Hall level do I need for the Portal Pendant?
The event itself opens at Town Hall 6, but you need Town Hall 9 or higher to actually equip and use the Portal Pendant on your Minion Prince.

Have you unlocked the Portal Pendant yet, or still grinding Sour Elixir? Let us know in the comments.

The Portal Pendant’s auto-save on lethal damage is the kind of safety net I wish more hero equipment had — I’d grab this one before anything else in the Trader Shop.
