Brawl Stars kicked off Season 55, “Brawl-O-Ween,” on October 1, 2026, and it’s a bigger deal than the usual seasonal refresh. The Brawl Stars Brawl-O-Ween update brings a new Mythic brawler, a month-long Halloween storyline, and a couple of brand new progression systems, all stacked into one patch. Season 54, “Royal Academy,” wrapped up after its usual 28-day run, and Supercell didn’t waste any time flipping the switch to spooky season.
What happened
Season 55 went live on October 1 at 09:00 UTC. The headline addition is Vince, a new Mythic-tier damage dealer styled as a barista working out of a horror-themed café. His kit revolves around caterpillars: he fires them out, and they turn into moths when something steps on them or hits them, which is a weirder mechanic than most Brawl Stars kits get. He’s available as an early-access pickup through October before settling into the regular Brawler Blast pool at 1,900 Mythic Credits.
The season itself isn’t a single mode swap, it’s framed as a four-phase event built around a character named Gus, kicked off under the hashtag #FindGus. Expect puzzle-style challenges that unlock in stages, some community voting baked into how the story plays out, and a few classic Brawl-O-Ween bosses making a comeback for anyone who’s been playing since the earlier Halloween events.
Two new systems came in alongside the story content. Loony is a balloon companion that sits on your home screen and banks extra rewards once you hit six wins in a day. Coffin Boxes are a new gacha-style box that hands out ten reward pulls at once, covering Coins, Power Points, Credits, Bling, Gems, and XP Boosters. On the cosmetics side, the Brawl Pass (still $8.99, or $12.99 for Plus) includes a Fortune Teller version of Mr. P and a Cursed Shade skin, both with chroma variants, plus shop skins for Dr. Bellenstein, Piper, Chuck, and Damian.
There’s also a balance pass tucked into the patch. Shade got toned down: Super charge needed went up, gadget cooldowns got longer, and his fear effect radius dropped from 1000 to 600. If Shade was your go-to pick last season, he’s noticeably less oppressive now.
Why it matters
Brawl Stars leans on these themed seasons to keep retention up between the bigger balance overhauls, and Halloween is historically one of its biggest. A new Mythic brawler with an unusual kit (environmental caterpillar/moth transformation isn’t something the roster has done before) gives the meta something genuinely new to react to, not just another “throws a projectile, has a dash” character. The multi-phase story structure with community voting is also Supercell testing a slightly more interactive format than a flat “play these challenges for a skin” event, which could carry over into future seasons if it lands well with players.
The Shade nerf matters too if you play Ranked or push trophies seriously. He’d been sitting near the top of a lot of tier lists for his fear-and-chip playstyle, and cutting his fear radius nearly in half changes how safely he can zone people out in close-quarters modes like Brawl Ball and Knockout.
What’s next / how to get it
The update is already live globally through the normal app store update, no separate download or server transfer needed. Vince is purchasable with Mythic Credits or picked up through the early-access window if you want him before the wider rollout. The Brawl-O-Ween story content is expected to keep unlocking in phases through roughly the first week of November, based on how long past Halloween seasons have typically run, so there’s no rush to clear everything on day one.

I’ve been maining Shade for the last two seasons, so this nerf stings a little, but honestly it needed to happen – he was way too safe to play around. Vince’s kit looks like a fun change of pace once I get a feel for the timing on those moths.
