Clash Royale: Merge Tactics just kicked off its Season 11 update, and the Clash Royale Merge Tactics October update is live as of October 1, 2026. Supercell pushed the patch with a genuinely big change to how Supers work, plus a fresh round of league modifiers and two new hero skins. If you play the auto-battler mode inside Clash Royale, here’s everything that actually changed.
What happened
Supercell dropped the October patch notes for Merge Tactics on its official release notes blog, and the headline change is how Monthly Supers are handled. Up until now, every player got assigned a Super as a starting troop at the beginning of a match. That’s gone. Supers now sit in the shared pool with everyone else’s troops, so you have to scout for them and fight other players for the right to pick one up, just like any other unit. Instead of starting with a Super, you now begin matches with a random 2-Elixir troop.
Supercell also trimmed the Elixir you earn each round during the preparation phase, from 5 down to 4. That sounds small, but it means every purchase and sell decision during prep carries more weight, since you’ve got less to work with per round. On top of that, the team is narrowing the power gap between expensive, high-cost troops and cheaper ones at the same Merge Level, which should open up team comps that weren’t really viable before when everyone just rushed the strongest units they could afford.
There’s new cosmetic content too. Battle Machine and Dagger Duchess both get Level 5 skins, and if you’d already maxed either Ruler to Level 5, the skin just shows up automatically, no extra grind required. Supercell also quietly fixed a bug where Dagger Duchess equipment was auto-equipping instead of behaving like normal equipment.
October’s ranked ladder gets 24 rotating modifiers spread across all twelve league tiers, running from lighter effects like Merge Training up through tougher ones like Cursed Tile. And looking ahead, Supercell confirmed a badge system change that kicks in when Season 11 wraps up on November 30: reach Diamond League and you’ll earn a Silver Badge, while finishing in the top 10,000 players overall nets a Gold Badge.
Why it matters
Pulling Supers out of the guaranteed starting slot is a real rebalance, not a cosmetic tweak. Free Supers at the start of a match basically handed early-game strength to whoever got lucky with their assigned unit. Making players compete for Supers in the shared pool puts more weight on scouting and positioning, which is the kind of change that tends to shake up whatever comp has been dominating the meta. Combine that with the Elixir reduction and the high/low-cost rebalancing, and this reads like Supercell trying to slow down snowball starts and reward players who adapt mid-match instead of locking in a plan from round one.
How to get it
No download or update needed beyond keeping your Clash Royale app current — Merge Tactics patches roll out through the same app update as the main game. Open the mode in-game and you should already see the October 2026 Season 11 changes live. If your skins or badge progress look off, force-closing and reopening the app usually syncs things up.
FAQ
Do I lose my current Super if I already own one from an earlier season?
No, this change only affects how you obtain Supers during a match going forward. It doesn’t touch any permanent unlocks or collection progress tied to past seasons.
When does Season 11 end?
Supercell has the season running through November 30, 2026, which is also when the new badge rewards for Diamond League and top 10,000 finishes kick in.
What do you think of Supercell pulling free Supers out of the starting lineup — bigger buff for skilled scouting, or just a different kind of RNG? Drop your take in the comments.

I’ve been playing Merge Tactics on and off since it launched, and honestly the free-Super-at-start thing always felt like it decided half your run before you even moved a troop, so I’m glad to see it gone.
