Stage Tour Brings Rhythm Games Back to the Stage
After years of silence in the rhythm game genre, RedOctane has announced Stage Tour, set to launch this year. Known for transforming living rooms into mini concert halls with Guitar Hero and Rock Band, the studio now aims to revive that spirit with a modern twist. The reveal trailer confirmed the release window and highlighted key collaborations and industry veterans, making the announcement especially meaningful for fans.
Music Lineup and Gameplay
Stage Tour will debut with a rock and metal-focused tracklist. The trailer featured Static-X’s “Terminator Oscillator”, clearly setting the tone. According to the official FAQ, more genres may be added over time. A licensing system for musicians is also in development, allowing broader participation.
Gibson Partnership and Controllers
RedOctane has signed a multi-year deal with Gibson, aiming to deliver a more authentic stage experience. Collaborations with Epiphone and Kramer have also been announced. One of the launch bundles will include a Gibson Kramer guitar controller, offering nostalgic hardware for players who miss the accessory-driven era of rhythm games.
Multiplayer Roles
Stage Tour supports up to four players, with roles including Lead, Groove, Drums, and Vocals. Each role will have dedicated peripherals, while gamepad and keyboard support ensures accessibility. This hybrid approach allows both traditional and casual setups.
Industry Veterans Involved
The project features several Guitar Hero veterans. Simon Ebejer, who played a key role during the Neversoft era, is part of the team. Guitar Hero founders Charles and Kai Huang are also on the advisory board. While platforms have not been finalized, the game is expected to launch across multiple systems, including PC. Rhythm games are clearly preparing to shine under the spotlight once again.
