Pokémon GO’s Zorua Community Day happened this past Saturday, October 10, 2026, running from 2 PM to 5 PM local time worldwide. If you missed it, you still have a short window to catch the evolution move before it’s gone, and there’s a Special Research ticket angle worth knowing about even now. Here’s what actually went down.
What happened
Niantic ran its October Community Day Classic around Zorua, the mischievous Fox Pokémon, from 2 to 5 PM local time on October 10. During that window spawns were way up, Shiny odds were boosted, and some Zorua showed up with a Special Background. The usual event bonuses applied too: 3x Catch XP, 2x Catch Candy, and double odds for trainers level 31+ to get Candy XL from catches. Incense ran for three hours instead of one, which made this a decent one for anyone stuck at a desk who still wanted to play.
A few bonuses stretched out further than the core three-hour window, running until 9 PM local time instead: an extra Special Trade (so two per day, max), Lure Modules lasting an hour instead of the usual 30 minutes, and trades costing 50% less Stardust. If you had a Lure Module up at a PokéStop during that stretch, Zorua had a very high chance of showing up there too.
The big reason anyone bothers showing up to these events is the exclusive move. Evolving a Zorua into Zoroark during the event, or within four hours after it ended, gets you a Zoroark that knows Sucker Punch as a Fast Attack. That’s a Dark-type move worth 8 power in Trainer Battles and 5 power in Gyms and raids, which matters if you’re building Zoroark for PvP. Since the event ended at 5 PM local time Saturday, that four-hour evolution window closed at 9 PM the same day, so if you weren’t stockpiling Zorua candy going into the weekend, that particular move is gone until Niantic reruns it.
There was also a paid Special Research line called Trickster’s Trail, priced at $1.99 or your local equivalent, which included three Zorua encounters with Special Backgrounds, extra Zorua encounters, a Premium Battle Pass, and a Rare Candy XL. It had no story and no medal attached, and tickets could be gifted to Great Friends or higher. A separate $1.99 Community Day Ultra Box (one event ticket plus five Ultra Balls) was also tied to the event.
Why it matters
Community Day Classics bring back a Pokémon that already had a featured Community Day move, rather than introducing something brand new, and Zorua already evolved into a solid PvP pick in past events. Sucker Punch gives Zoroark a fast, spammy option that fits its glass-cannon playstyle in Great League and Ultra League matchups. For anyone who plays casually and only checks in once a month for these events, this was one of the lower-stakes ones: no brand-new creature, no huge raid tie-in, just a chance to stock up on a Pokémon that’s genuinely useful competitively.
It’s also a reminder of how Niantic structures its October calendar around Halloween content, with this Community Day landing in between bigger seasonal events rather than being the headline attraction.
What’s next
If you missed the live window, keep an eye on your Zorua candy stock for the next time Niantic reruns this Community Day or offers Sucker Punch through a different event, since Classics do get repeated. In the meantime, themed Field Research tied to Zorua may still be floating around in some regions, and trading with friends who caught a Shiny or Special Background Zorua is still an option going forward, just without the discounted Stardust bonus now that the extended window has closed.
FAQ
Can I still get a Community Day Zoroark with Sucker Punch?
Not from this specific event. The evolution window closed four hours after the event ended, at 9 PM local time on October 10. You’ll need to wait for Niantic to rerun this Community Day or offer the move again.
Was the Special Research ticket worth buying?
That’s a personal call, but for $1.99 you got three guaranteed Special Background Zorua encounters plus a Premium Battle Pass and a Rare Candy XL, which is solid value if you were already planning to play that day.

I always forget how good Sucker Punch actually is on Zoroark until a Community Day like this rolls around and reminds me to stock up candy for next time.
