Capcom has unveiled a brand-new story trailer and a 13-minute developer gameplay showcase for Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection, the latest entry in its turn-based RPG spin-off series. The new footage highlights both the darker narrative tone and the expanded gameplay systems.
Story and Setting
This time, the plot revolves around the fate of two kingdoms: Azuria and Vermeil. Players take on the role of Azuria’s heir and the sole Rathalos Rider with unique abilities, tasked with uncovering a looming mystery. The trailer’s most striking reveal is the appearance of twin Rathalos hatching from a mysterious egg. While one symbolizes hope, the second is seen as a harbinger of an ancient catastrophe, tied to environmental decay and the threat of monster extinction.
Gameplay Innovations
Presented by lead gameplay designer Daisuke Wakahara, the developer video showcases several new features:
- A more elaborate egg hunting system.
- The Habitat Restoration mechanic to counter environmental collapse.
